Jay Harold talks about recent Black History and asks for your help to preserve it. The Civil Rights Movement was made up of many important but little-known events. The National Humanities Center highlights these little known but important events that are worth remembering. One such event that changed America was President Harry Truman’s Executive Order 9981.  Which states, “It is hereby declared to be the policy of the President that there shall be equality of treatment and opportunity for all persons in the armed services without regard to race, color, religion, or national origin.”   President Truman signed this order on July 26, 1948.

Another event that Jay Harold highlights is the Anti-lynching movement to prevent the killing of mostly African-Americans. You need to know what happened in the past. It helps explain why Black Americans are in such poor financial shape. Jay Harold has a post that details the dire economic status of Blacks. “Black Household Incomes Below National Average,” shows us that work still needs to be done to improve our financial health.
